Adoration is a simple as the title states. Although it may be somewhat unconventional, at the core, this project is a straightforward worship EP. This project comes from the personal perspective of a worshiper who is sincerely in love with Jesus. Musically the songs range from contemporary gospel, CCM, soul, and pop, with blaring guitars. Mark David and Surface Deep are definitely considered as a worship band but they have always struggled to describe what genre they exactly fit into. Ultimately Mark David and Surface deep have joined their talents to create a sound that appeals to many different backgrounds. The album starts off with the high energy title track “Adoration” and ends with the powerful song entitled “Thank You” acknowledging the hardship the Savior endured on the cross. In between the opening and ending of the EP are songs like “You” which mirrors the sound of an old school soul record and pop-driven “Can’t Get Enough.” This EP is truly meant to inspire believers to draw closer to the One who created them.
